ACETYL (POM)

Acetyl was discovered and developed by two independent research groups in the mid-20th century:

DuPont: In the 1950s, DuPont chemists led by Dr. Eugene Rochow developed the first practical method for synthesizing polyoxymethylene. This marked the beginning of commercial production of acetal resins under the trade name “Delrin®.”

Celanese Corporation: Around the same time, a team of researchers at the Celanese Corporation (now part of Celanese) also developed their own method for producing acetal resins.

Pictured above are many valve components, as well as moving parts for barriers due to the low friction required for the applications. Several components also have steel or brass inserts insert moulded into them, as well as some with secondary operations like assembly and spin-welding.

Why choose Acetyl for your injection moulding project?

Overall, moulding in acetyl offers several advantages, making it an excellent choice for producing high-quality plastic parts.
